Το έργο “DeCo” (Design Collaboration for Sustainable Businesses), συγχρηματοδοτείται από το πρόγραμμα Interreg Europe 2021 – 2027, με στόχο τη βελτίωση των τοπικών, εθνικών και περιφερειακών αναπτυξιακών πολιτικών μέσω της ανταλλαγής εμπειριών και καινοτόμων προσεγγίσεων και μέσω της ανάπτυξης δεξιοτήτων στον αειφόρο και κυκλικό σχεδιασμό, στην παραγωγή και στη μεταποίηση. Το έργο συμβάλλει στην επίτευξη των στόχων που έχει θέσει η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση για τη μείωση των εκπομπών στο περιβάλλον καθώς και στην υποστήριξη της πρότασης της Επιτροπής για την καθιέρωση των βιώσιμων προϊόντων ως κανόνα στην Ε.Ε., την ενίσχυση των κυκλικών επιχειρηματικών μοντέλων και την ενδυνάμωση των καταναλωτών για την πράσινη μετάβαση.
Κατά την πρώτη ημέρα της δράσης, οι εκπρόσωποι των εταίρων της Συντονιστικής Ομάδας (Steering Group) του έργου “DeCo” συναντήθηκαν στις εγκαταστάσεις του Hellenic Design Center, με αντικείμενο συζήτησης την μέχρι σήμερα εξέλιξη, τα αποτελέσματα και τον προγραμματισμό των δράσεων του έργου για κάθε εταίρο, την εξέλιξη του οικονομικού αντικειμένου και ειδικότερα θέματα σχετικά με τις ενέργειες επικοινωνίας του έργου.
Στη συνέχεια, οι εκπρόσωποι των εταίρων, παρακολούθησαν μια σειρά από παρουσιάσεις ειδικών από τον ακαδημαϊκό χώρο και τις επιχειρήσεις σχετικά με το ρόλο του σχεδιασμού στη βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη. Ο καθηγητής Δημήτριος Φωλίνας (Τμήμα Διοίκησης Εφοδιαστικής Αλυσίδας του Διεθνούς Πανεπιστημίου της Ελλάδας) αναφέρθηκε στην ενίσχυση της βιώσιμης αξίας στις αλυσίδες εφοδιασμού. Ο Δρ. Γεώργιος Φυτιάνος, Sustainability Manager στην “Alumil Group”, παρουσίασε τις τρέχουσες πρακτικές και προκλήσεις στην Περιβαλλοντική, Κοινωνική και Εταιρική Διακυβέρνηση (ESG), με έμφαση στην παραγωγή και επεξεργασία αλουμινίου. Στη συνέχεια, ο καθηγητής Γιώργος Λιαμάδης (Σχολή Εικαστικών και Εφαρμοσμένων Τεχνών του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης) αναφέρθηκε στο Critical Design και το ρόλο του στη διαμόρφωση κουλτούρας βιωσιμότητας, ενώ η καθηγήτρια Ιωάννα Συμεωνίδου (Τμήμα Αρχιτεκτονικής του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης) κατά την παρουσίασή της αναφέρθηκε στη βιώσιμη σχεδίαση και τις υπολογιστικές στρατηγικές για φιλική προς το περιβάλλον αρχιτεκτονική. Η πρώτη ημέρα της συνάντησης έκλεισε με τη διεξαγωγή συμμετοχικού εργαστηρίου με θέμα «Παίξτε έξυπνα, η αρχή του Design Thinking. Ένα ταξίδι προς τη βιωσιμότητα».
Κατά τη δεύτερη ημέρα της συνάντησης, οι συμμετέχοντες πραγματοποίησαν σειρά εκπαιδευτικών επισκέψεων σε φορείς που υποστηρίζουν και εφαρμόζουν πρακτικές κυκλικής οικονομίας. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, οι εκπρόσωποι των εταίρων είχαν την ευκαιρία να επισκεφθούν το Κέντρο Ικανοτήτων i4bydesign και το Κέντρο Διεπιστημονικής Έρευνας και Καινοτομίας (ΚΕΔΕΚ) του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης. Μετά το πέρας της ξενάγησης στις εγκαταστάσεις και τα εργαστήρια των δύο Κέντρων, ο Δρ. Χρήστος Κοϊδης αναφέρθηκε στη Δυναμική Ανάλυση Κύκλου Ζωής (LCA) για την υποστήριξη του κυκλικού σχεδιασμού. Οι συμμετέχοντες αφού ενημερώθηκαν για την επόμενη Διαπεριφερειακή Συνάντηση εταίρων του έργου DeCo που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στην Ισπανία, επισκέφθηκαν τις εγκαταστάσεις της εταιρείας Διόπας Α.Ε., όπου είχαν την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσουν καλές πρακτικές που εφαρμόζονται στην παραγωγική διαδικασία στην κατεύθυνση της κυκλικής οικονομίας.

The third Interregional Partner Meeting of the DeCo project – “Design Collaboration for Sustainable Business” – was organized by the Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia, as a project partner, and the Region of Central Macedonia, as the Associated Policy Authority, in collaboration with the International Hellenic University, in Thessaloniki.
The project “DeCo” (Design Collaboration for Sustainable Businesses) is co-funded by the Interreg Europe 2021–2027 programme, with the aim of improving local, national and regional development policies through the exchange of experiences and innovative approaches, and through the development of skills in sustainable and circular design, production, and manufacturing. The project contributes to achieving the goals set by the European Union for reducing environmental emissions, as well as supporting the Commission’s proposal to establish sustainable products as the norm in the EU, enhancing circular business models and empowering consumers for the green transition.
On the first day of the event, representatives of the project partners’ Steering Group met at the premises of the Hellenic Design Center, to discuss the progress to date, project results and the planning of future actions for each partner, the development of the financial aspect, and specific issues related to the project’s communication activities.
Following that, partner representatives attended a series of presentations by experts from academia and business, focusing on the role of design in sustainable development. Professor Dimitrios Folinas (Department of Supply Chain Management, International Hellenic University) spoke about enhancing sustainable value in supply chains. Dr. Georgios Fytianos, Sustainability Manager at Alumil Group, presented current practices and challenges in Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG), with an emphasis on aluminium production and processing. Then, Professor Giorgos Liamadis (School of Fine and Applied Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) discussed Critical Design and its role in shaping a culture of sustainability, while Professor Ioanna Simeonidou (Department of Architecture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) in her presentation referred to sustainable design and computational strategies for environmentally friendly architecture. The first day of the meeting concluded with a participatory workshop titled “Play Smart, the beginning of Design Thinking: A journey toward sustainability.”
On the second day of the meeting, participants carried out a series of educational visits to institutions that support and implement circular economy practices. More specifically, partner representatives had the opportunity to visit the i4bydesign Competence Center and the Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation Center (CIRI) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. After the guided tours of the two Centers’ facilities and laboratories, Dr. Christos Koïdis presented Dynamic Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in support of circular design. After being informed about the next Interregional Partner Meeting of the DeCo project in Spain, participants visited the premises of DIOPAS S.A., where they had the opportunity to learn about good practices applied in the production process in the direction of the circular economy.
